ಅಥ ತೃತೀಯ ಸರ್ಗಃ

ಶೋ|| ಸ ಲಮ್ಬ ಶಿಖರೇ ಲಮ್ಬೇ ಲಮ್ಬತೋಯದ ಸನ್ನಿಭೇ|
ಸತ್ತ್ವಮಾಸ್ಥಾಯ ಮೇಧಾವೀ ಹನುಮಾನ್ಮಾರುತಾತ್ಮಜಃ||1||
ನಿಶಿ ಲಙ್ಕಾಂ ಮಹೋಸತ್ತ್ವೋ ವಿವೇಶ ಕಪಿಕುಂಜರಃ|
ರಮ್ಯಕಾನನ ತೋಯಾಢ್ಯಾಂ ಪುರೀಂ ರಾವಣಪಾಲಿತಾಮ್||2||

ಸ|| ಸ ಮೇಧಾವೀ ಮಾರುತಾತ್ಮಜಃ ತೋಯದ ಸನ್ನಿಭೇ ಲಂಬ ಶಿಖರೇ ಸತ್ತ್ವಮ್ ಅಸ್ಥಾಯ (ಸಃ) ಮಹಾಸತ್ತ್ವಃ ಕಪಿಕುಂಜರಃ ರಮ್ಯಕಾನನ ತೋಯಾಡ್ಯಾಂ ರಾವಣಪಾಲಿತಾಂ ಲಙ್ಕಾಂ ವಿವೇಶ||

That intelligent son of wind god relying on his own energy entered the city of Lanka which is on a tall peak resembling a mass of rain bearing clouds , which is rich in delightful forests, groves and pools, and which is ruled by Ravana.

ಸಾಗರೋಪಮನಿರ್ಘೋಷಾಂ ಸಾಗರಾನಿಲಸೇವಿತಾಮ್||3||
ಸುಪುಷ್ಠಬಲಸಂಪುಷ್ಠಾಂ ಯಥೈವ ವಿಟಪಾವತೀಮ್|
ಚಾರುತೋರಣ ನಿರ್ಯೂಹಾಂ ಪಾಣ್ಡುರದ್ವಾರತೋರಣಾಮ್||4||
ಭುಜಗಾಚರಿತಾಂ ಗುಪ್ತಾಂ ಶುಭಾಂ ಭೋಗವತೀ ಮಿವ|
ತಾಂ ಸವಿದ್ಯುದ್ಘನಾಕೀರ್ಣಂ ಜ್ಯೋತಿರ್ಮಾರ್ಗನಿಷೇವಿತಾಮ್||5||
ಮಂದಮಾರುತ ಸಂಚಾರಾಂ ಯಥೇಂದ್ರಸ್ಯ ಅಮರಾವತೀಮ್|
ಶಾತಕುಂಭೇನ ಮಹತಾ ಪ್ರಾಕಾರೇಣಾಭಿಸಂವೃತಾಮ್||6||
ಕಿಂಕಿಣೀಜಾಲಘೋಷಾಭಿಃ ಪತಾಕಾಭಿರಲಂಕೃತಾಮ್|
ಅಸಾದ್ಯ ಸಹಸಾ ಹೃಷ್ಟಃ ಪ್ರಾಕಾರಮಭಿಪೇದಿವಾನ್||7||

ಸ|| ( ಹೃಷ್ಟಃ ಸಹಸಾ ಪ್ರಾಕಾರಂ ಆಸಾದ್ಯ) ಶಾರದಾಮ್ಬುಧರ ಪ್ರಖ್ಯೈಃ ಭವನೈಃ ಉಪಶೋಭಿತಾಮ್ ಸಾಗರೋಪಮ ನಿರ್ಘೋಷಾಮ್ ಸಾಗರಾ ನಿಲಸೇವಿತಾಮ್ (ತಾಂ ಲಙ್ಕಾಂ ಅಭಿಪೇದಿವಾನ್)|| ಸುಪುಷ್ಠ ಬಲಸಂಪುಷ್ಠಾಮ್ ಯಥೈವ ವಿಟಪಾವತೀಂ ಚಾರುತೋರಣ ನಿರ್ಯೂಹಾಮ್ ಪಾಣ್ಡುರದ್ವಾರ ತೋರಣಾಮ್ (ತಾಂ ಲಙ್ಕಾಂ ಅಭಿಪೇದಿವಾನ್) || ಭುಜಗಾ ಚರಿತಾಂ ಗುಪ್ತಾಂ ಶುಭಾಂ ಭೋಗವತೀಂ ಇವ (ದೃಶ್ಯಾಮ್ ತಾಂ ಲಙ್ಕಾಂ ಅಭಿಪೇದಿವಾನ್)| ಸವಿದ್ಯುತ್ ಘನಾಕೀರ್ಣಮ್ ಜ್ಯೋತಿರ್ಮಾರ್ಗ ನಿಷೇವಿತಾಮ್ ತಾಂ (ಲಙ್ಕಾಂ ಅಭಿಪೇದಿವಾನ್) || ಮಂದಮಾರುತ ಸಂಚಾರಾಂ ಮಹತಾ ಶಾತಕುಂಭೇನ ಪ್ರಾಕಾರೇಣ ಅಭಿಸಂವೃತಾಂ ಯಥಾ ಇಂದ್ರಸ್ಯ ಅಮರಾವತೀಂ (ತಾಂ ಲಙ್ಕಾಂ ಅಭಿಪೇದಿವಾನ್)|| ಕಿಂಕಿಣೀ ಜಾಲಘೋಷಾಭಿಃ ಪತಾಕಾಭೀಃ ಅಲಂಕೃತಾಮ್ (ತಾಂ ಲಙ್ಕಾಂ) ಹೃಷ್ಟಃ ಸಹಸಾ ಆಸಾದ್ಯ ಪ್ರಾಕಾರಂ ಅಭಿಪೇದಿವಾನ್||

Delighted Hanuman, having reached the ramparts, saw the Lanka which was full of mansions like beautiful autumnal clouds, which is served by the sea breeze with sounds of the roar of the sea, which is strong with well-nourished army stationed at the beautiful arch ways just like Vitapavathi , which is provided with white gates and arches, which is like Bhujagavati inhabited by snakes well protected and auspicious. Hanuman saw Lanka which is overcast with streaks of lightning , which is served by all planets and stars with winds blowing gently, which is like the city of Amaravati with golden ramparts adorned with jingling sounds of small bells and decorated with flags everywhere.

ಜಾಂಬೂನದಮಯೈರ್ದ್ವಾರೈಃ ವೈಢೂರ್ಯಕೃತವೇದಿಕೈಃ ||8||
ವಜ್ರಸ್ಫಟಿಕಮುಕ್ತಾಭಿಃ ಮಣಿಕುಟ್ಟಿಮಭೂಷಿತೈಃ|
ತಪ್ತಹಾಟಕನಿರ್ಯೂಹೈ ರಾಜತಾಮಲಪಾಣ್ಡುರೈಃ||9||
ವೈಢೂರ್ಯಕೃತಸೋಪಾನೈಃ ಸ್ಫಾಟಿಕಾಂತರ ಪಾಂಸುಭಿಃ|
ಚಾರುಸಂಜವನೋಪೇತೈಃ ಖಮಿವೋತ್ಪತೈ ಶ್ಶುಭೈಃ||10||
ಕ್ರೌಂಚಬರ್ಹಿಣಸಂಘುಷ್ಠೈಃ ರಾಜಹಂಸನಿಷೇವಿತೈಃ|
ತೂರ್ಯಾಭರಣನಿರ್ಘೋಷೈಃ ಸರ್ವತಃ ಪ್ರತಿನಾದಿತಾಮ್||11||
ವಸ್ವೌಕಸಾರಾಪ್ರತಿಮಾಂ ತಾಂ ವೀಕ್ಷ್ಯ ನಗರೀಂ ತತಃ |
ಖಮಿವೋತ್ಪತಿತುಂ ಕಾಮಾಂ ಜಹರ್ಷ ಹನುಮಾನ್ ಕಪಿಃ||12||

ಸ|| ಸರ್ವತಃ (ಸ)ಜಾಮ್ಬೂನದಮಯೈಃ ದ್ವಾರೈಃ (ಸ)ವೈಢೂರ್ಯಕೃತ ವೇದಿಕೈಃ ಪುರೀಂ ಆಲೋಕ್ಯ ವಿಸ್ಮಯಾ ವಿಷ್ಠಹೃದಯಃ , ವಜ್ರ ಸ್ಫಟಿಕಮುಕ್ತಾಭಿಃ (ಸ)ಮಣಿಕುಟ್ಟಿಮಭೂಷಿತೈಃ ತಪ್ತಹಾಟಕನಿರ್ಯೂಹೈಃ ರಾಜತಾಮಲಪಾಣ್ಡುರೈಃ ,(ಸ)ವೈಢೂರ್ಯಕೃತ ಸೋಪಾನೈಃ (ಸ)ಸ್ಫಾಟಿಕಾಂತರ ಪಾಂಸುಭಿಃ ಚಾರುಸಂಜವನೋಪೇತೈಃ ಖಮಿವೋತ್ಪತ್ತೈಃ ಶುಭೈಃ , ಕ್ರೌಂಚಬರ್ಹಿಣ ಸಂಘುಷ್ಠೈಃ ರಾಜಹಂಸ ನಿಷೇವಿತೈಃ ತೂರ್ಯಾಭರಣ ನಿರ್ಘೋಷೈಃ ಪ್ರತಿನಾದಿತಾಂ ಖಮಿವೋತ್ಪತಿತುಂ ವಸ್ವೌಕಸಾರಾಪ್ರತಿಮಾಂ ತಾಂ ನಗರೀಂ ವೀಕ್ಷ್ಯ ಹನುಮಾನ್ ಕಪಿಃ ಜಹರ್ಷ||

Seeing the city full of golden gates, platforms made of gold encrusted with Vaidhuryas, diamonds, crystals and pearls, studded with diamonds, pure silver floors, stair cases encrusted with Vaidhurya and covered with crystal grains, lovely quadrangles echoing with the sounds of Krauncha birds and peacocks , inhabited by royal swans , filled with sounds of auspicious musical instruments raising to the sky resounding all over like the city of Vaswokasara, Hanuman the Vanara was delighted.

ಶೋ|| ತಾಂ ಸಮೀಕ್ಷ್ಯ ಪುರೀಮ್ ರಮ್ಯಾಂ ರಾಕ್ಷಸಾಧಿಪತೇ ಶ್ಶುಭಾಮ್|
ಅನುತ್ತಮಾಂ ವೃದ್ಧಿಯುತಾಂ ಚಿಂತಯಾಮಾಸ ವೀರ್ಯವಾನ್||13||

ಸ|| ಶುಭಾಂ ರಮ್ಯಾಂ ಅನುತ್ತಮಾಂ ವೃದ್ಧಿಯುತಾಂ ರಾಕ್ಷಸಾಧಿಪತೇಃ ತಾಂ ಪುರೀಂ ವೀಕ್ಷ್ಯ ವೀರ್ಯವಾನ್ ಹನುಮತಃ ಚಿನ್ತಯಾಮಾಸ||

Seeing the incomparable, auspicious, beautiful, prosperous city the mighty Hanuman started to think.

ಶೋ|| ನೇಯಮನ್ಯೇನ ನಗರೀ ಶಕ್ಯಾ ಧರ್ಷಯಿತುಂ ಬಲಾತ್ |
ರಕ್ಷಿತಾ ರಾವಣ ಬಲೈಃ ಉದ್ಯತಾಯುಧದಾರಿಭಿಃ ||14||

ಸ||ಉದ್ಯತಾಯುಧಧಾರುಭಿಃ ರಾವಣ ಬಲೈಃ ರಕ್ಷಿತಾ ಇಯಂ ನಗರೋ ಅನ್ಯೇನ ಬಲಾತ್ ಧರ್ಷಯಿತುಂ ನ ಶಕ್ಯಾ||

This city protected by Ravana forces which are ready to fight cannot be overtaken by force.

ಶೋ|| ಕುಮುದಾಙ್ಗದಯೋರ್ವಾಪಿ ಸುಷೇಣಸ್ಯ ಮಹಾಕಪೇಃ|
ಪ್ರಸಿದ್ಧೇಯಂ ಭವೇತ್ ಭೂಮಿಃ ಮೈನ್ದದ್ವಿವಿದಯೋ ರಪಿ||15||

ಸ|| ಇಯಂ ಭೂಮಿಃ ಕುಮುದಾಙ್ಗದಯೋರ್ವಾಪಿ ಮಹಾಕಪೇಃ ಸುಷೇಣಸ್ಯ ಮೈನ್ದದ್ವಿವಿದಯೋರಪಿ ಪ್ರಸಿದ್ಧಾ ಭವೇತ್||

This place may be known to Kumuda, Angada or the great Vanara Sushena, as also
Mainda and Dvivida.

ಶೋ|| ವಿವಸ್ವತ ಸ್ತನೂಜಸ್ಯ ಹರೇಶ್ಚ ಕುಶಪರ್ವಣಃ|
ಋಕ್ಷಸ್ಯ ಕೇತುಮಾಲಸ್ಯ ಮಮ ಚೈವ ಗತಿರ್ಭವೇತ್ ||16||

ಸ|| (ಇಯಂ ಭೂಮಿಃ) ವಿವಸ್ವತಃ ತನೂಜಸ್ಯ ಹರೇಃ ಕುಷಪರ್ವಣಃ ಋಕ್ಷಸ್ಯ ಕೇತುಮಾಲಸ್ಯ ಮಮ ಚ ಗತಿಃ ಭವೇತ್||

The son of Vivaswan, the chief of Vanaras (Sugriva) , Kusaparva, Riksha and myself also will be able to reach this place.

ಶೋ|| ಸಮೀಕ್ಷ್ಯತು ಮಹಾಬಾಹೂ ರಾಘವಸ್ಯ ಪರಾಕ್ರಮಮ್|
ಲಕ್ಷ್ಮಣಸ್ಯ ವಿಕ್ರಾನ್ತಂ ಅಭವತ್ಪ್ರೀತಿಮಾನ್ ಕಪಿಃ||17||

ಸ|| ಕಪಿಃ ಮಹಾಬಾಹುಃ ರಾಘವಸ್ಯ ಪರಾಕ್ರಮಂ ಲಕ್ಷಮಣಸ್ಯ ವಿಕ್ರಾನ್ತಂ ಚ ಸಮೀಕ್ಷ್ಯ ಪ್ರೀತಿಮಾನ್ ಅಭವತ್ ||

The Vanara remembering the valor of mighty Rama and the valiant Lakshmana was happy.

ಶೋ|| ತಾಂ ರತ್ನ ವಸನೋಪೇತಾಂ ಕೋಷ್ಠಾಗಾರಾವತಂಸಕಾಮ್|
ಯಂತ್ರಾಗಾರಾಸ್ತನೀಮೃದ್ಧಾಂ ಪ್ರಮದಾಮಿವ ಭೂಷಿತಾಮ್||18||
ತಾಂ ನಷ್ಠತಿಮಿರಾಂ ದೀಪ್ತೈರ್ಭಾಸ್ವರೈಶ್ಚ ಮಹಾಗೃಹೈಃ|
ನಗರೀಂ ರಾಕ್ಷಸೇಂದ್ರಸ್ಯ ಸ ದದರ್ಶ ಮಹಾಕಪಿಃ||19||

ಸ|| ಸಃ ಮಹಾಕಪಿಃ ಭಾಸ್ವರೈಶ್ಚ ದೀಪ್ತೈಃ ನಷ್ಠತಿಮಿರಾಂ ಮಹಾಗೃಹೈಃ ತಾಂ ರಾಕ್ಷಸೇನ್ದ್ರಸ್ಯ ನಗರೀಂ ರತ್ನ ವಸನೋಪೇತಾಂ ಕೋಷ್ಠಾಗಾರವತಂಸಕಾಮ್ ಯನ್ತ್ರಾಗಾರಾಂ ಸ್ತನೀಂ ಋದ್ಧಾಂ ಭೂಷಿತಾಮ್ ಪ್ರಮದಾಮಿವ ದದರ್ಶ ||

Hanuman looked at the city of the Rakshasa King whose darkness was dispelled by the bright gems and great mansions as if it were a young maiden. The prosperous city was like a well decorated woman adorned with ornament with walls for her dress, the stables for her ear rings, and the armories for her breasts.

ಶೋ|| ಅಥ ಸಾ ಹರಿಶಾರ್ದೂಲಂ ಪ್ರವಿಶಂತಂ ಮಹಾಬಲಃ|
ನಗರೀಸ್ವೇನ ರೂಪೇಣ ದದರ್ಶ ಪವನಾತ್ಮಜಮ್||20||

ಸ|| ಅಥ ಮಹಾಬಲಃ ಹರಿಶಾರ್ದೂಲಂ ಪ್ರವಿಶಂತಂ ಪವನಾತ್ಮಜಂ ಸಾ ನಗರೀ ಸ್ವೇನ ರೂಪೇಣ ದದರ್ಶ||

The mighty Hanuman, a tiger among Vanaras entering the city was seen by Lanka, the presiding deity herself.

ಶೋ|| ಸಾ ತಂ ಹರಿವರಂ ದೃಷ್ಟ್ವಾ ಲಙ್ಕಾರಾವಣಪಾಲಿತಾ|
ಸ್ವಯಮೇವೋಥ್ಥಿತಾ ತತ್ರ ವಿಕೃತಾನನ ದರ್ಶನಾ||21||

ಸ|| ರಾವಣಪಾಲಿತಾ ಸಾ ಲಙ್ಕಾ ತಂ ಹರಿವರಂ ದೃಷ್ಟ್ವಾ ವಿಕೃತಾನನ ದರ್ಶನಾ ತತ್ರ ಸ್ವಯಮೇವ ಉತ್ಥಿತಾ ||

Seeing the best of Vanaras, the ugly looking Lanka ruled by Ravana rose up.

ಶೋ|| ಪುರಸ್ತಾತ್ ಕಪಿವರ್ಯಸ್ಯ ವಾಯುಸೂನೋರತಿಷ್ಠತ|
ಮುಞ್ಚಮಾನಾ ಮಹಾನಾದಂ ಅಬ್ರವೀತ್ ಪವನಾತ್ಮಜಮ್||22||

ಸ|| ಕಪಿವರ್ಯಸ್ಯ ವಾಯುಸೂನೋಃ ಪುರಸ್ತಾತ್ ಅತಿಷ್ಠತ | ಮಹಾನಾದಂ ಮುಞ್ಚಮಾನಾ ಪವನಾತ್ಮಜಂ ಅಬ್ರವೀತ್||

She stood Infront of the best of Vanaras. Making a great sound she spoke.

ಶೋ|| ಕಸ್ತ್ವಂ ಕೇನ ಚ ಕಾರ್ಯೇಣ ಇಹ ಪ್ರಾಪ್ತೋ ವನಾಲಯ|
ಕಥಯ ಸ್ವೇಹ ಯತ್ತತ್ವಂ ಯಾವತ್ಪ್ರಾಣಾಧರಂತಿ ತೇ ||23||

ಸ|| (ಹೇ) ವನಾಲಯ ಕಃ ತ್ವಂ| ಕೇನ ಕಾರ್ಯೇಣ ಇಹ ಪ್ರಾಪ್ತಃ ಚ| ಯಾವತ್ ತೇ ಪ್ರಾಣಾಃ ಧರನ್ತಿ ಇಹ ಯತ್ ತತ್ತ್ವಂ (ತತ್) ಕಥಯಸ್ವ||

'Oh Forest dweller who are you ? For what reason have you come here? Speak the truth about yourself till you have a hold on your life.

ಶೋ|| ನ ಶಕ್ಯಂ ಖಲ್ವಿಯಂ ಲಙ್ಕಾ ಪ್ರವೇಷ್ಠುಂ ವಾನರ ತ್ವಯಾ |
ರಕ್ಷಿತಾ ರಾವಣ ಬಲೈಃ ಅಭಿಗುಪ್ತಾಸಮಂತತಃ||24||

ಸ|| (ಹೇ) ವಾನರ ರಾವಣ ಬಲೈಃ ಸಮನ್ತತಃ ರಕ್ಷಿತಾ ಅಭಿಗುಪ್ತಾ ಲಙ್ಕಾ ಪ್ರವೇಷ್ಠುಂ ತ್ವಯಾ ನ ಶಕ್ಯಂ||

Oh Vanara protected by Ravana forces everywhere it is not possible for you to enter this city Lanka in secret.

ಶೋ|| ಅಥ ತಾಮಬ್ರವೀದ್ವೀರೋ ಹನುಮಾನಗ್ರತಸ್ಥಿತಾಮ್|
ಕಥಯಿಷ್ಯಾಮಿ ತೇ ತತ್ತ್ವಂ ಯನ್ಮಾಂ ತ್ವಂ ಪರಿಪೃಚ್ಛಸಿ||25||
ಕಾ ತ್ವಂ ವಿರೂಪನಯನಾ ಪುರದ್ವಾರೇ ಅವತಿಷ್ಠಸಿ|
ಕಿಮರ್ಥಂ ಚಾಪಿ ಮಾಂ ರುದ್ದ್ವಾ ನಿರ್ಭರ್ತ್ಸಯಸಿ ದಾರುಣಾ||26||

ಸ|| ಅಥ ಅಗ್ರತ ಸ್ಥಿತಾಮ್ ತಾಂ ವೀರಃ ಹನುಮಾನ್ ಅಬ್ರವೀತ್| ಯತ್ ತ್ವಾಂ ಮಾಂ ಪರಿಪೃಚ್ಛಸಿ ತತ್ತ್ವಂ ತೇ ಕಥಯಿಷ್ಯಾಮಿ|| ಹೇ ದಾರುಣಾ ವಿರೂಪ ನಯನಾ ಪುರದ್ವಾರೇ ಅವತಿಷ್ಠಸಿ ಕಾ ತ್ವಂ | ಕಿಂ ಅರ್ಥಮ್ ಮಾಂ ರುದ್ಧ್ವಾ ನಿರ್ಭರ್ತ್ಸಸಿ |

Then the valiant Hanuman spoke to that one standing in front of him. 'I will tell you what you are asking me. oh Dreadful woman with distorted eyes ! Who are you standing at the city gates? Why are you threatening me?'

ಶೋ|| ಹನುಮಾದ್ವಚನಂ ಶ್ರುತ್ವಾ ಲಙ್ಕಾ ಸಾ ಕಾಮರೂಪಿಣೀ|
ಉವಾಚ ವಚನಂ ಕ್ರುದ್ಧಾ ಪರುಷಂ ಪವನಾತ್ಮಜಮ್||27||
ಅಹಂ ರಾಕ್ಷಸರಾಜಸ್ಯ ರಾವಣಸ್ಯ ಮಹಾತ್ಮನಃ|
ಅಜ್ಞಾಪ್ರತೀಕ್ಷಾ ದುರ್ದರ್ಷಾ ರಕ್ಷಾಮಿ ನಗರೀಂ ಇಮಾಮ್||28||

ಸ|| ಹನುಮಾತ್ ತತ್ ವಚನಂ ಶ್ರುತ್ವಾ ಸಾ ಕಾಮರೂಪಿಣೀ ಲಙ್ಕಾ ಕೃದ್ಧಾ ಪವನಾತ್ಮಜಂ ಪರುಷಂ ವಚನಂ ಉವಾಚ||ಅಹಂ ಮಹಾತ್ಮನಃ ರಾಕ್ಷಸ ರಾಜಸ್ಯ ಆಜ್ಞಾಪ್ರತೀಕ್ಷಾ ಇಮಾಮ್ ದುರ್ಧರ್ಷಾ ನಗರೀಂ ರಕ್ಷಾಮಿ ||

Hearing those words of Hanuman the angered Lanka who can assume any form spoke harsh words to the son of wind god. 'I am protecting this invincible city following the orders of the demon king'.

ಶೋ|| ನ ಶಕ್ಯಾ ಮಾಮವಜ್ಞಾಯ ಪ್ರವೇಷ್ಠುಂ ನಗರೀ ತ್ವಯಾ|
ಅದ್ಯ ಪ್ರಾಣೈಃ ಪರಿತ್ಯಕ್ತಃ ಸ್ವಪ್ಸ್ಯಸೇ ನಿಹತೋ ಮಯಾ||29||
ಅಹಂ ಹಿ ನಗರೀ ಲಙ್ಕಾ ಸ್ವಯಮೇವ ಪ್ಲವಂಗಮ|
ಸರ್ವತಃ ಪರಿರಕ್ಷಾಮಿ ಹ್ಯೇತತ್ತೇ ಕಥಿತಂ ಮಯಾ||30||

ಸ|| ಮಾಂ ಅವಜ್ಞಾಯ ತ್ವಯಾ ನಗರೀಂ ಪ್ರವೇಷ್ಠುಂ ನ ಶಕ್ಯಾ| ಅದ್ಯ ಮಯಾ ನಿಹತಃ ಪ್ರಾಣೈಃ ಪರಿತ್ಯಕ್ತಃ ಸ್ವಪ್ಸ್ಯಸೇ|| ಹೇ ಪ್ಲವಂಗಮ ! ಅಹಂ ಸ್ವಯಮೇವ ನಗರೀ ಲಙ್ಕಾ | ಸರ್ವತಃ ಪರಿರಕ್ಷಾಮಿ ಏತತ್ ತೇ ಕಥಿತಂ||

'Ignoring my presence it is not possible for you to enter the city. Today killed by me giving up life you will go to eternal sleep. Oh Hanuman I am the deity of Lanka. I will be protecting the city all over. This is my answer to you'.

ಶೋ|| ಲಙ್ಕಾಯಾ ವಚನಂ ಶ್ರುತ್ವಾ ಹನುಮಾನ್ಮಾರುತಾತ್ಮಜಃ|
ಯತ್ನವಾನ್ ಸ ಹರಿಶ್ರೇಷ್ಠಃ ಸ್ಥಿತಶ್ಶೈಲ ಇವಾಪರಃ||31||
ಸ ತಾಂ ಸ್ತ್ರೀರೂಪ ವಿಕೃತಾಂ ದೃಷ್ಟ್ವಾ ವಾನರಪುಂಗವಃ|
ಅಬಭಾಷೇಽಥ ಮೇಧಾವೀ ಸತ್ತ್ವವಾನ್ ಪ್ಲವಗರ್ಷಭಃ||32||

ಸ||ಮಾರುತಾತ್ಮಜಃ ಸಃ ಹನುಮಾನ್ ಲಙ್ಕಾಯಾಃ ವಚನಂ ಶ್ರುತ್ವಾ ಯತ್ನವಾನ್ ಸಃ ಹರಿಶ್ರೇಷ್ಠಃ ಅಪರಂ ಶೈಲಃ ಇವ ಸ್ಥಿತಃ||ಸಃ ಮೇಧಾವೀ ಸತ್ತ್ವವಾನ್ ಪ್ಲವಗರ್ಷಭಃ ವಾನಪುಂಗವಃ ಸ್ತ್ರೀರೂಪ ವಿಕೃತಾಂ ತಾಂ ಅಬಭಾಷೇ||

The son of wind god, Hanuman hearing those words of Lanka stood Infront of her like another mountain. That intelligent powerful Hanuman, a bull among Vanaras spoke to that monstrous looking woman.

ಶೋ|| ದ್ರಕ್ಷ್ಯಾಮಿ ನಗರೀಂ ಲಙ್ಕಾಂ ಸಾಟ್ಟಪ್ರಾಕಾರತೋರಣಾಮ್|
ಇತ್ಯರ್ಥಮಿಹ ಸಂಪ್ರಾಪ್ತಃ ಪರಂ ಕೌತೂಹಲಮ್ ಹಿ ಮೇ ||33||
ವವಾನ್ಯುಪವನಾನೀಹ ಲಙ್ಕಾಯಾಃ ಕಾನನಾನಿಚ |
ಸರ್ವತೋ ಗೃಹಮುಖ್ಯಾನಿ ದ್ರಷ್ಟುಮಾಗಮನಂ ಹಿ ಮೇ|| 34||

ಸ|| ಸಾಟ್ಟಪ್ರಾಕಾರತೋರಣಾಂ ಲಙ್ಕಾಂ ದ್ರಕ್ಷ್ಯಾಮಿ | ಇತ್ಯರ್ಥಂ ಇಹ ಸಂಪ್ರಾಪ್ತಃ | ಮೇ ಪರಂ ಕೌತೂಹಲಂ ಹಿ||ಇಹ ವನಾನಿ ಉಪವನಾನಿ ಕಾನನಾನಿ ಚ ಮುಖ್ಯಾನಿ ಗೃಹಾನಿ ಸರ್ವತಃ ದ್ರಷ್ಠುಂ ಮೇ ಆಗಮನಂ ಹಿ||

'I have great curiosity. I have come to see the market places, ramparts and gateways. I have arrived here to see the gardens groves and forests as well as the main palaces'.

ಶೋ|| ತಸ್ಯ ತದ್ವಚನಂ ಶ್ರುತ್ವಾ ಲಙ್ಕಾ ಸಾ ಕಾಮರೂಪಿಣೀ|
ಭೂಯ ಏವ ಪುನರ್ವಾಕ್ಯಂ ಬಭಾಷೇ ಪರುಷಾಕ್ಷರಮ್||35||
ಮಾಮನಿರ್ಜಿತ್ಯ ದುರ್ಬುದ್ಧೇ ರಾಕ್ಷಸೇಶ್ವರಪಾಲಿತಾಮ್|
ನ ಶಕ್ಯಮದ್ಯ ತೇ ದ್ರಷ್ಟುಂ ಪುರೀಯಂ ವಾನರಾಧಮಾ||36||

ಸ|| ತಸ್ಯ ತತ್ ವಚನಂ ಶ್ರುತ್ವಾ ಸಾ ಕಾಮರೂಪಿಣೀ ಭೂಯ ಏವ ಪುನಃ ಪರುಷಾಕ್ಷರಂ (ವಾಕ್ಯಂ) ಬಭಾಷೇ|| ಹೇ ದುರ್ಬುದ್ಧೇ ವಾನರಾಧಮಾ ಮಾಂ ಅನಿರ್ಜಿತ್ಯ ರಾಕ್ಷಸೇಶ್ವರ ಪಾಲಿತಾಂ ಇಯಂ ಪುರೀಂ ಅದ್ಯ ತೇ ದ್ರಷ್ಠುಂ ನ ಶಕ್ಯಂ||

Hearing those words that ogress who can assume any form again spoke with harsh words. 'Oh Evil minded foolish monkey , without conquering me it is not possible for you to enter the city ruled by the king of demons'.

ಶೋ|| ತತಸ್ಸ ಕಪಿಶಾರ್ದೂಲಃ ತಾಂ ಉವಾಚ ನಿಶಾಚರೀಮ್|
ದೃಷ್ಟ್ವಾಪುರೀಂ ಇಮಾಂ ಭದ್ರೇ ಪುನರ್ಯಾಸ್ಯೇ ಯಥಾಗತಮ್||37||

ಸ|| ತತಃ ಸ ಕಪಿ ಶಾರ್ದೂಲಃ ತಾಂ ನಿಶಾಚರೀಮ್ (ಪುನಃ ಉವಾಚ) ||ಹೇ ಭದ್ರೇ ಇಮಾಂ ಪುರೀಂ ದೃಷ್ಟ್ವಾ ಯಥಾಗತಂ ಪುನಃ ಯಾಸ್ಯೇ||

Then the tiger among Vanaras again spoke to the night walker.''Oh Noble lady, having seen the city I will go back the way I came.'

ಶೋ|| ತತಃ ಕೃತ್ವಾ ಮಹಾನಾದಂ ಸಾವೈ ಲಙ್ಕಾ ಭಯಾವಹಂ |
ತಲೇನ ವಾನರಶ್ರೇಷ್ಠಂ ತಾಡಯಾಮಾಸ ವೇಗಿತಾ ||38||
ತತಸ್ಸ ಕಪಿಶಾರ್ದೂಲೋ ಲಙ್ಕಯಾ ತಾಡಿತೋ ಭೃಶಮ್|
ನನಾದ ಸು ಮಹಾನಾದಂ ವೀರ್ಯವಾನ್ ಪವನಾತ್ಮಜಃ||39||

ಸ|| ತತಃ ಭಯಾವಹಂ ಮಹಾನಾದಂ ಕೃತ್ವಾ ಸಾ ಲಙ್ಕಾ ವೇಗಿತಾ ತಲೇನ ವಾನರಶ್ರೇಷ್ಠಂ ತಾಡಾಯಾಮಾಸ | ತತಃ ಲಙ್ಕಯಾ ಭೃಶಂ ತಾಡಿತಃ ಕಪಿಶಾರ್ದೂಲಃ ವೀರ್ಯವಾನ್ ಮಾರುತಾತ್ಮಜಃ ಸು ಮಹಾನಾದಂ ನನಾದ||

Then that Lanka making a frightening sound speedily hit Hanuman the best of Vanaras with her palm. Then thus hit badly by Lanka , the powerful son of wind god roared loudly.

ಶೋ|| ತತಸ್ಸಂವರ್ತಯಾಮಾಸ ವಾಮಹಸ್ತಸ್ಯಸೋಽಙ್ಗುಳೀಃ|
ಮುಷ್ಠಿನಾಽಭಿಜಘಾನೈನಾಂ ಹನುಮಾನ್ ಕ್ರೋಧಮೂರ್ಚ್ಛಿತಃ||40||
ಸ್ತ್ರೀಚೇತಿ ಮನ್ಯಮಾನೇನ ನಾತಿ ಕ್ರೋಧಃ ಸ್ವಯಂ ಕೃತಃ|
ಸಾ ತು ತೇನ ಪ್ರಹಾರೇಣ ವಿಹ್ವಲಾಙ್ಗೀ ನಿಶಾಚರೀ||41||
ಪಪಾತ ಸಹಸಾ ಭುಮೌ ವಿಕೃತಾನನ ದರ್ಶನಾ|
ತತಸ್ತು ಹನುಮಾನ್ ಪ್ರಾಜ್ಞಸ್ತಾಂ ದೃಷ್ಟ್ವಾ ವಿನಿಪಾತಿತಾಮ್||42||
ಕೃಪಾಂ ಚಕಾರ ತೇಜಸ್ವೀ ಮನ್ಯಮಾನಃ ಸ್ತ್ರಿಯಮ್ ತು ತಾಮ್|

ಸ|| ತತಃ ಸಃ ಹನುಮಾನ್ ಕ್ರೋಧಮೂರ್ಛಿತಃ ವಾಮ ಹಸ್ತಸ್ಯ ಅಙ್ಗುಳೀಃಸಂವರ್ತಯಾಮಾಸ | ಏನಾಮ್ ಮುಷ್ಟಿನಾ ಅಭಿಜಘಾನ||ಸ್ತ್ರೀ ಚ ಇತಿ ಮನ್ಯಮಾನೇನ ಸ್ವಯಂ ಅತಿಕ್ರೋಧಃ ನ ಕೃತಃ| ಸಾ ನಿಶಾಚರೀ ತು ತೇನ ಪ್ರಹಾರೇಣ ವಿಹ್ವಲಾಙ್ಗೀ ವಿಕೃತಾನನ ದರ್ಶನಾ ಸಹಸಾ ಭೂಮೌ ಪಪಾತ ||ತತಃ ಪ್ರಾಜ್ಞಃ ವಿನಿಪಾತಿತಾಂ ತಾಂ ದೃಷ್ಟ್ವಾ ತಾಂ ಸ್ತ್ರಿಯಂ ತು ಮನ್ಯಮಾನಃ ಕೃಪಾಂ ಚಕಾರ |

Then Hanuman overcome by anger clenched the fingers of his left hand and hit her with his fist. Considering that she is a woman he did not become too angry. That ugly looking night dweller with limbs shattered by that hit at once fell on the ground. Then seeing the fallen Lanka , considering that she is a woman Hanuman showed compassion.

ಶೋ|| ತತೋ ವೈಭೃಶ ಸಂವಿಗ್ನಾ ಲಙ್ಕಾ ಸಾ ಗದ್ಗದಾಕ್ಷರಮ್||43||
ಉವಾಚ ಗರ್ವಿತಂ ವಾಕ್ಯಂ ಹನೂಮಂತಂ ಪ್ಲವಙ್ಗಮಮ್|
ಪ್ರಸೀದ ಸುಮಹಾಬಾಹೋ ತ್ರಾಯಸ್ವ ಹರಿಸತ್ತಮ||44||
ಸಮಯೇ ಸೌಮ್ಯ ತಿಷ್ಠಂತಿ ಸತ್ತ್ವವಂತೋ ಮಹಾಬಲಾಃ|
ಅಹಂ ತು ನಗರೀ ಲಙ್ಕಾ ಸ್ವಯಮೇವ ಪ್ಲವಙ್ಗಮ||45||

ಸ|| ತತಃ ಸಾ ಲಙ್ಕಾ ಭೃಶ ಸಂವಿಗ್ನಾ ಗದ್ ಗದಾಕ್ಷರಂ ಅಗರ್ವಿತಂ ಪ್ಲವಙ್ಗಮಮ್ ಹನೂಮಂತಂ ಉವಾಚ| ಹೇ ಮಹಾಬಾಹೋ ಪ್ರಸೀದ | ಹರಿಸತ್ತಮ ತ್ರಾಯಸ್ವ|| ಸೌಮ್ಯ ಸತ್ತ್ವವಂತಃ ಮಹಾಬಲಾಃ ಸಮಯೇ ತಿಷ್ಠಂತಿ | ಪ್ಲವಙ್ಗಮ ಅಹಂ ತು ಸ್ವಯಮೇವ ನಗರೀ ಲಙ್ಕಾ ||

Then the greatly agitated Lanka spoke with choked voice to Hanuman the best among flyers. Oh Great armed one ! Be gracious. Oh Best of monkeys save me. Oh Noble one ! Great people hold back when time comes. Oh Best among flyers I am the deity of Lanka.'

ತಾ|| ನಿರ್ಜಿತಾಹಂ ತ್ವಯಾ ವೀರ ವಿಕ್ರಮೇಣ ಮಹಾಬಲ|
ಇದಂ ತು ತಥ್ಯಂ ಶೃಣೂವೈ ಬ್ರುವಂತ್ಯಾ ಹರೀಶ್ವರ||46||
ಸ್ವಯಂಭುವಾ ಪುರಾ ದತ್ತಂ ವರದಾನಂ ಯಥಾ ಮಮ|
ಯದಾ ತ್ವಾಂ ವಾನರಃ ಕಶ್ಚಿತ್ ವಿಕ್ರಮಾತ್ ವಶಮಾನಯೇತ್||47||
ತದಾ ತ್ವಯಾ ಹಿ ವಿಜ್ಞೇಯಂ ರಕ್ಷಸಾಂ ಭಯಮಾಗತಮ್
ಸ ಹಿ ಮೇ ಸಮಯಃ ಸೌಮ್ಯ ಪ್ರಾಪ್ತೋsದ್ಯತವದರ್ಶನಾತ್||48||

ಸ|| ಹೇ ವೀರ ಮಹಾಬಲ ಅಹಂ ತ್ವಯಾ ವಿಕ್ರಮೇಣ ನಿರ್ಜಿತಾ| ಹರೀಶ್ವರಾ ಇದಂ ತು ತಥ್ಯಂ ಶೃಣುವೈ|| ಪುರಾ ಸ್ವಯಂಭುವಾ ಮಮ ದತ್ತಂ ವರದಾನಂ ಯಥಾ | ಯದಾ ತ್ವಾಂ ಕಶ್ಚಿತ್ ವಾನರಃ ವಿಕ್ರಮಾತ್ ವಶಮಾನಯೇತ್ ತದಾ ರಕ್ಷಸಾಂ ಭಯಮಾಗಯೇತ್ (ಇತಿ) ತ್ವಯಾ ಹಿ ವಿಜ್ಞೇಯಂ || ಹೇ ಸೌಮ್ಯ ಸ ಸಮಯಃ ಮೇ ತವ ದರ್ಶನಾತ್ ಸಂಪ್ರಾಪ್ತಃ||

'Oh Valiant and mighty one, I have been conquered by your valor. Oh Best of monkeys this is certain please hear. In the past the creator gave me a boon. When a Vanara vanquishes you by his prowess you may know that the destruction of Rakshasa will set in. Oh Noble one that time has come with your appearance.

ಶೋ|| ಸ್ವಯಂಭೂವಿಹಿತಃ ಸತ್ಯೋ ನ ತಸ್ಯಾಸ್ತಿ ವ್ಯತಿಕ್ರಮಃ |
ಸೀತಾನಿಮಿತ್ತಂ ರಾಜ್ಞಸ್ತು ರಾವಣಸ್ಯ ದುರಾತ್ಮನಃ||49||
ರಕ್ಷಸಾಂ ಚೈವ ಸರ್ವೇಷಾಂ ವಿನಾಶಃ ಸಮುಪಾಗತಃ|
ತತ್ಪ್ರವಿಶ್ಯ ಹರಿಶ್ರೇಷ್ಠ ಪುರೀಂ ರಾವಣಪಾಲಿತಾಮ್||50 ||
ವಿಧತ್ಸ್ವಸರ್ವ ಕಾರ್ಯಾಣಿ ಯಾನಿ ಯಾನೀಹ ವಾಂಚ್ಛಸಿ||51||

ಸ|| ಸ್ವಯಂಭೂವಿಹಿತಃ | ಸತ್ಯಃ| ತಸ್ಯ ವ್ಯತಿಕ್ರಮಃ ನ ಅಸ್ತಿ|| ದುರಾತ್ಮನಃ ರಾಜ್ಞ್ಜಃ ರಾವಣಸ್ಯ ಸರ್ವೇಷಾಂ ರಕ್ಷಸಾಂ ಚ ಸೀತಾನಿಮಿತ್ತಂ ವಿನಾಶಃ ಸಮುಪಾಗತಃ|| ಹೇ ಹರಿಶ್ರೇಷ್ಠ ತತಃ ರಾವಣ ಪಾಲಿತಾಂ ಪುರೀಂ ಇಹ ಪ್ರವಿಶ್ಯ ಯಾನಿ ಯಾನಿ ಕಾರ್ಯಾಣಿ ವಾಂಚ್ಛಸಿ ತತ್ ಸರ್ವಕಾರ್ಯಾಣಿ ವಿಧತ್ಸ್ವ||

'What has been ordained by the creator cannot be overcome. The ruin of evil minded king Ravana as well as all Rakshasas will come because of Sita. Oh Best of monkeys so enter this city ruled by Ravana and do whatever works you intended to do'.

ಶೋ|| ಪ್ರವಿಶ್ಯ ಶಾಪೋಪಹತಂ ಹರೀಶ್ವರಃ
ಶುಭಾಂ ಪುರೀಂ ರಾಕ್ಷಸ ಮುಖ್ಯಪಾಲಿತಾಮ್|
ಯದೃಚ್ಛಯಾ ತ್ವಂ ಜನಕಾತ್ಮಜಾಂ ಸತೀಮ್
ವಿಮಾರ್ಗ ಸರ್ವತ್ರ ಗತೋ ಯಥಾ ಸುಖಮ್||52||

ಸ||ಹರೀಶ್ವರ ಶಾಪೋಪಹತಂ ರಾಕ್ಷಸಮುಖ್ಯ ಪಾಲಿತಾಂ ಶುಭಾಂ ಪುರೀಂ ಯದೃಚ್ಛಯಾ ಪ್ರವಿಶ್ಯ ತ್ವಂ ಸರ್ವತ್ರ ಗತಃ ಯಥಾಸುಖಂ ಸತೀಂ ಜನಕಾತ್ಮಜಾಂ ವಿಮಾರ್ಗಸ್ವ||

'Oh Best of monkeys ! having entered the city doomed by the curse and ruled by the chief of Rakshasas ,you may go everywhere and search for the chaste daughter of Janaka !.'

Thus ends the third Sarga of Sundarakanda in Ramayana, the first ever poem of mankind composed by Maharshi Valmiki.
